And then lots of people saying that it made them feel less alone, that they feel like they're trying to figure life out and that everyone seems to be succeeding, and they kind of still don't know what they're doing, and this book made them feel reassured that it's normal and that's what everybody feels like. Having spent a large amount of her time alone in her flat, she's looking forward to being able to get out and about again with her boyfriend, Edward, and her friends. Galvenokārt man ne līdz galam patika tas, ka viss Penelopes un Edvarda attiecībās notika tādā kā paātrinājumā. It seems like the first book’s success was the only reason for this extension, which was again easy fun read bus stories were kind of forced and didn’t really come together as interesting as you’d wish. She also hosts a podcast which is understated throughout the novel but comes into its own quite significantly, before the end. FOGO – fear of going out, of dragging clothes from the wardrobe which haven’t seen the light of day since March 2020 and seem to have shrunk; seeing people we haven’t seen in over a year and having to overcome the awkward, ‘Do we elbow bump or hug? instead of Nell just writing an obituary column and interviewing a family member to do so as the book has it, in the show she can see and talk to the dead people. Over the course of the novel, we met Nell navigating a post-lockdown world, dealing with her new stepfamily, and learning not to trust what you see on social media.

I will continue to read Alexandra Potter’s books, as from the 3 books I’ve read so far by her, I thinks she does a great job at capturing the trials and tribulations of women in their 40’s. As the eight-year-old on the bouncy castle explains, ‘if you get knocked down, you just get up again.I absolutely loved this book, her first Confessions of a Forty Something F*** Up ended up being one of my favourite books so I knew I had to read this one, and it was just as good.

It gives new meaning to the Girl Guide motto: Be prepared - and provides good jumper storage, under the bed, in the meantime. I’ve done it myself: posted the photo of four smiling faces with a ‘what a lovely day with besties – and so lucky with the weather. This is a great follow-up to the first book set 2 years on as Nell continues with her podcast and still struggles with life.Life, like us, is a sum of moving parts, and if we’re lucky, we get to keep f**king up, figuring it out and laughing in the face of it all. I can't tell you how happy I was to be able to catch up with Nell - I adored "Confessions of a Forty - Something. Potter's witty prose and insightful exploration of life's messiness make for an unputdownable read that's both heartwarming and thought-provoking.

Now Alexandra Potter, the Bradford-born author behind Confessions of a Forty-Something **** Up is preparing to bring out its sequel. Jāsaka, ka tie reti ir tikpat spēcīgi kā pirmā grāmata un, lai arī man patiešām patika arī šis, par mata tiesu tomēr šis kaut ko ir zaudējis - 4. I can’t tell you how happy I was to catch up with Nell and Cricket they have such an endearing friendship and all the other familiar characters in this sequel, they truly feel like old friends! Amid the laughter, tears, and unexpected turns, the author masterfully tackles deeper themes with sensitivity, giving the characters depth and authenticity. On the other hand, there are many, many points that resonated with me and there are for sure many, many women out there with same thoughts and feeling. There is humour – plenty of it - and some irreverence, but there are also moments of poignancy and it is more thought-provoking between the laughter.
