The trio are back with their hyperactive blend of pop-punk for the first time since dropping their multi-platinum album ‘A Present For Everyone’ in 2003. Reunion’ sounds like it’s probably the single, as it also doubles as a way of letting people know the band are back together despite the songs actually being aboitba sixth form reunion. Of course, that’s not to say that the entire album is about growing up, moving on and looking back, as the band has also dreamed up a couple of the catchy, high-concept storytelling songs they’re known for too. I cannot wait for fans to hear this record and to be able to talk to them on social media about it,” says Willis.

Of course, given that Busted have never been a powerhouse band in terms of innovation or technical songcraft (because why would they be?

While Night Driver was an interesting sonic diversion, Half Way There gets back to doing what the band does best. And that’s exactly what the lads have done with this exceptional, exhilarating and at times moving album. The album thankfully doesn’t take too long to get through, and ends on a high with one of its funniest and worst written songs ‘it happens’ which tells the history of busted.

If 2016’s ‘Night Driver’, all pink neon effect artwork and positively groovy 80s vibes on it’s tracks like ‘On What You’re On’ was a conscious effort to create a record that, whilst brilliant, still had an inescapable air of ‘Busted trying to find their place in pop music today’ on it, then ‘Half Way There’, produced by the legendary Gil Norton, is the polar opposite of that.Read more about the condition New: An item that is still in its original shrink wrap from the manufacturer and the original manufacturer’s seal (if applicable) has not been removed. million copies in the UK alone and their 2003 follow-up A Present for Everyone came very close to matching it. This is our first official single off the record, the other stuff was kind of given out to [the] fan base to kind of entice them, but this is the first 'big boy' single, so enjoy it. It’s quickly followed by the twice-previously recorded (by Bourne’s band Son of Dork and by McBusted for their self-titled album) ‘ What Happened To Your Band’ about the band’s split, which is given a new lease of life amidst this album of stylistic throwbacks and retro Busted vibes to become one of the album’s stand-out tracks. Again I find it hard to tell if I’m enjoying it, i’m sneering at it a lot but also smiling so I guess I’m enjoying myself. or strips away any deeper conversation surrounding climate change or the state of the world on Race To Mars. The track "What Happened to Your Band" was previously performed live by one of James Bourne's other bands, Son of Dork back in 2007. This was one of the tracks where the poor songwriting actually works in a really hilarious meta way, with the song concluding with the band getting back together recording the album you’ve just listened to and rocking out again and how things will be alright if you believe. The title is a play on the reference in their huge hit ‘Year 3000’ to the band releasing their seventh album. Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since. And that really does highlight how shallow and underdeveloped Half Way There is, to the point where even the most basic of pop-rock and pop-punk that at least endeavours to bring something to the table is exponentially more worthwhile than this. Even by their standards, there’s nothing here to get invested in, and when the only comeback that they themselves have is references to the past, both their own and of countless other, better bands, that really just says it all.
