The book jumps around like the characters do which is fortunate as it helps us get to the end more quickly. By completing your purchase, you agree to Audible's Conditions of Use and authorise Audible to charge your designated card or any other card on file. The story will continue in the next book and we'll learn more about other characters mentioned here in this book and I can't wait. I feel like there was too much rushing taking place - some of the more intriguing scenes didn't get the attention to detail they were deserving of. This is the second book set in these lands and although not directly linked to AFOVAV I would recommend reading that one first due to some character mention overlaps and the scene is set in the first one.

I cannot wait for the next book in the Levanthria series, and I am intrigued to see if/ when we may see reappearances of characters from previous books. Instead, we have another group of characters who were unlikeable or at best characters I was indifferent to.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Beswick's writing is similar to the first book in that it's simple, easy to access, cliché in places, but will surprise you with poignancy at times. Although the book offers excellent world building and interesting characters, the story lacks excitement and seems to drag on, with only a few captivating action scenes.

It was a smart choice on the author's part to focus on a totally different character within the world. I can tell you everything you want to know about Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan, but I can't even name a secondary character from movies 4 or 5. The ending was a bit of a surprise, and too rushed but definitely has me intrigued and happy to read on in the series. P Beswick went full time as an author, he looks forward to sharing more of his enchanting tales with his readers. I loved the all the characters in this story and the attention to detail had me feeling like I was actually watching the events unfold. It seems like all of these books are just a mashup of all the different heroes and fairy tales mushed together and it's not as appealing as you might think. The story was interesting perhaps caused in part because I was not yet familiar with the underlying folk tale. But after witnessing her siblings' cruel deaths, she unleashes her powers for the first time and makes her escape. Some of them had nice interactions on the (very short, page count-wise) sailing section and then we get to the end and watch half of them get slaughtered in an attack and I couldn't even tell you their names. This is the second book in the series, though these characters and events save the mentioning of the leader of the "bad guys" had nothing to do with book one. I feel the execution of the series needs to be ironed out but I have enough incentive to continue with the series.

I tried to give this second book a chance after listening to the first one but I found myself genuinely uninterested in finishing it.
